110 Years Ahead

Since 1916, we have continued to move forward and innovate to support women in their lives, their movements and their freedom. From the first synthetic stockings to waterless-dyed lace, our story is one of constant evolution always looking to the future.

1916 - 1950
FOUNDATIONS
The foundations of a pioneering brand
Founded in 1916 with the invention of the first synthetic stockings, Etam laid the groundwork for lingerie that was more modern, more accessible and in tune with its time. In 1928, the opening of our first Parisian store on Rue Saint-Honoré marked the beginning of a strong French presence, later reinforced by the development of workshops in Northern France and the gradual establishment of our corsetry expertise.
1950 - 1990
REVOLUTION
Revolutionising comfort for women
Over the decades, we made lingerie more accessible, comfortable and liberating. From cotton fabrics and self-service stores to automatic stock replenishment and next-generation bras, we transformed the lingerie experience to support the evolving needs, bodies and lifestyles of women.
1990 - 2010
ACCELERATION
Digitalisation and the first responsible commitments
We entered a new era by embracing digital innovation and launching our e-commerce platform as early as 2001. At the same time, we began a more sustainable transformation with our first organic cotton collections in 2007, while continuing to evolve our products and campaigns around a more confident and liberated vision of femininity.
2010 - 2024
INNOVATION
Building a more responsible approach to innovation
We accelerated our transformation by placing innovation, responsibility and positive impact at the heart of our development. Textile breakthroughs, more responsible materials, practical solutions designed to improve women’s lives, waterless-dyed lace and the launch of the WeCare programme in 2018 all shaped this key chapter, built around three pillars: women, the planet and innovation.
2025 -
LOOKING AHEAD
B Corp™ certification and shaping the future
As Etam approaches its 110th anniversary, the company continues its evolution by becoming B Corp™ Certified. This recognition highlights the commitment that defines Etam today the result of more than a century of innovation, transformation and continuous progress. It marks a new chapter in our story and strengthens our ambition: to keep evolving fashion for women with ever greater responsibility, innovation and positive impact.
